Abstract

**Translation to English:** *Spodoptera frugiperda* (Lepidoptera; Noctuidae) is an invasive pest originating from the American continent and has spread to various countries. This pest is polyphagous, meaning it can attack a wide range of plant species, including various plant families. However, this insect is a major pest for corn plants in the family Poaceae. The larvae of *S. frugiperda* damage corn plants from the vegetative to the generative phase. Bintaro (*Cerbera odollam*) is a plant from the family Apocynaceae, and wild betel leaf (*Piper aduncum*) is a plant from the family Piperaceae. Both plants can be used as botanical pesticides because they contain secondary metabolite compounds with potential as insecticides, fungicides, bactericides, repellents, antifeedants, ovipositional inhibitors, and can disrupt insect development. The objective of this study is to assess the potential of a mixture of bintaro leaf extract and wild betel leaf extract as a botanical insecticide against *S. frugiperda* in the laboratory. This research was conducted in the Plant Pest Science Laboratory and the Food and Agricultural Product Analysis Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University, from November 2023 to June 2024. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with a non-factorial approach, consisting of six treatment levels with concentrations of 0, 10g bintaro leaf extract (B), 10g wild betel leaf extract (SH), 5g B + 5g SH, 7.5g B + 2.5g SH, and 2.5g B + 7.5g SH, each with four replications, resulting in 24 experiments. The observed variables included repellency, mortality, antifeedant activity, percentage of pupae formation, and percentage of emerging adults. The results showed that the mixture of bintaro leaf extract and wild betel leaf extract significantly affected the repellency of *S. frugiperda* larvae. The average repellency of *S. frugiperda* larvae was not significantly different between the 10g bintaro (P1) treatment and the 7.5g B + 2.5g SH (P4) treatment but was significantly different from the 2.5g B + 7.5g SH (P5), 10g SH (P2), and 5g B + 5g SH (P3) treatments. Furthermore, the mixture of bintaro leaf extract and wild betel leaf extract had a highly significant effect on the mortality of *S. frugiperda*. The average mortality of *S. frugiperda* showed significant differences across the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th days after application (DAA). The antifeedant percentage significantly affected *S. frugiperda*, with the application of the bintaro and wild betel leaf extract mixture showing no significant difference between the 10g B (P1) treatment and the 7.5g SH (P4) treatment but significantly different from the 10g SH (P2) and 2.5g B + 7.5g SH (P5) treatments. The 5g B + 5g SH (P3) treatment was significantly different from the other treatments. The average percentage of pupae formation in the 5g B + 5g SH (P3) treatment was not significantly different from the 10g SH (P2) treatment but was significantly different from the other treatments. The average percentage of emerging adults in the 10g SH (P2) treatment was not significantly different from the 2.5g B + 7.5g SH (P5) treatment but was significantly different from the 10g B (P1), 5g B + 5g SH (P3), and 7.5g B + 2.5g SH (P4) treatments. The mixture of bintaro and wild betel leaf extracts at a concentration of 5g bintaro + 5g wild betel, and the single treatment with 10g wild betel, had an effect on repellency against *S. frugiperda* larvae. The botanical extract mixture with a concentration of 5g bintaro + 5g wild betel has potential for *S. frugiperda* larval mortality, as it was able to kill up to 80% of larvae at 7 days after application (DAA). The mixture of bintaro and wild betel leaf extracts with a concentration of 2.5g bintaro + 7.5g wild betel can inhibit the emergence of *S. frugiperda* adults.
