MUHAMMAD REZA ALFARISI, PENGARUH PEMBERIAN EKSTRAK BAWANG PUTIHRN(ALLIUM SATIVUM L.) TERHADAP GAMBARANRNHISTOPATOLOGI ENDOMETRIUM RNTIKUS PUTIH MODELRNENDOMETRITIS. Banda Aceh Fakultas Kedokteran Hewan,2024

Abstract

Endometritis is an inflammation of the endometrial lining of the uterus caused by bacterial infection, typically entering through the vagina and cervix. While antibiotics are commonly used to treat endometritis, their use can lead to antibiotic resistance. Garlic contains secondary metabolites, such as alliin and alliinase, which are believed to have therapeutic effects on endometritis. This study aimed to assess the impact of garlic extract on the histopathological features of a white rat model of endometritis. The study employed a completely randomized design with 6 treatments and 3 replicates, using 18 mice that were injecting progesterone hormone for 5 days. Group P0 was injected with 0.1 ml of physiological NaCl without bacterial induction; P1 was induced with a bacterial combination of E. coli and S. aureus at a concentration of 1.5 x 10^8 CFU/ml; P2 was induced with bacteria and injected with chloramphenicol at a dose of 315 mg/kg BW; P3 was induced with bacteria and given garlic extract at a dose of 250 mg/200 g BW; P4 was induced with bacteria and given garlic extract at a dose of 500 mg/200 g BW; and P5 was induced with bacteria and given garlic extract at a dose of 1000 mg/200 g BW. Treatments were administered for 7 days, after which the uterine organs of the white rats were collected to prepare histopathological slides. The study's parameters included changes in lumen shape, epithelial cell necrosis, epithelial cell proliferation, and other histopathological such as inflammatory cells, hyperemia and hemorrhage. Data on the shape of the uterine lumen were presented descriptively, while necrosis and proliferation data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test followed by the Mann-Whitney test. Statistical test results showed a decrease in the number of necrosis and proliferation of epithelial cells (P < 0.05) between the treatment group and the negative control group. It can be concluded that the administration of garlic extract shows an improvement in the composition of the endometrial epithelium in white rat endometritis model.
