Hepatoprotektor adalah kelompok zat kimia yang bisa menghindari kerusakan organ hati yang bekerja melakukan detoksifikasi senyawa toksik yang masuk serta menaikkan kemampuan regenerasi sel-sel hati yang rusak. hati adalah organ terpenting dan terbesar dalam tubuh yang memiliki banyak fungsi, salah satu fungsi hati sebagai organ detoksifikasi senyawa xenobiotik. xenobiotik ialah senyawa asing bagi tubuh yang harus dimetabolis agar dapat diekskresikan dari tubuh, misalnya parasetamol. parasetamol biasanya dikonsumsi untuk meredakan sakit kepala maupun demam. tumbuhan famili annonaceae mengandung senyawa flavonoid dimana berperan sebagai antioksidan sehingga dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai hepatoprotektor. terdapat empat anggota famili annonaceae yang ekstrak kulit batangnya telah diuji dalam penelitian ini yaitu sirsak (annona muricata l.), srikaya (annona squamosa l.), gompol kambing (mezzettia parviflora becc.) dan bau langit (cyathocalyx sumatranus becc). annona muricata l. mengandung alkaloid, steroid, flavonoid dan fenolik. annona squamosa l. mengandung alkaloid, terpenoid, dam fenolik.

Hepatoprotectors are a group of chemicals that can prevent damage to the liver and work by detoxifying incoming toxic compounds and increasing the ability to regenerate damaged liver cells. The liver is the most important and largest organ in the body which has many functions, one of the functions of the liver is as an organ for detoxifying xenobiotic compounds. Xenobiotics are compounds foreign to the body that must be metabolized in order to be excreted from the body, for example paracetamol. Paracetamol is usually consumed to relieve headaches and fever. Annonaceae family plants contain flavonoid compounds which act as antioxidants so they can be used as hepatoprotectors. There are four members of the Annonaceae family whose stem bark extracts have been tested in this research, namely soursop (Annona muricata L.), sugar apple (Annona squamosa L.), goat gourd (Mezzettia parviflora Becc.) and bausky (Cyathocalyx sumatranus Becc). Annona muricata L. contains alkaloids, steroids, flavonoids and phenolics. Annona squamosa L. contains alkaloids, terpenoids, and phenolics. Mezzettia parviflora Becc. there are alkaloids, terpenoids, saponins, flavonoids, phenolics and tannins.
