Abstract
The piping system is a system used to transport fluids, whether liquid, gas, or a mixture of liquid and gas, from one place to another. Currently, PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda is undertaking a project to build an ammonia tank and its piping system for ammonia distribution. The piping system, which bears continuous operational loads such as pressure, weight, and thermal expansion, as well as occasional loads such as wind and earthquakes, will experience responses like stress displacement, force, and moment. These responses must remain below the limits set by applicable codes and standards. The purpose of this research is to determine the magnitude of the response in the initial design and after evaluation in a project being conducted by PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda. The analysis method used is a numerical approach. The analysis results show that the response in the initial design exceeds the established limits, meaning that the piping system is not yet structurally safe. After evaluation by selecting the type of support, the final analysis results indicate that the response is below the allowable values. This means the piping system being designed is now in a safe condition according to the applicable codes and standards.
