Abstract

This study examines the control of the domestic cat population through the procedure of ovariectomy (OH) on a cat named Moly, who is vaccinated, female, and two years old. Physical examination showed that the cat has a body weight of 2.05 kg, a heart rate of 104 beats per minute, and a respiratory rate of 44 breaths per minute. No abnormalities were found in heart and respiratory sounds, body temperature was normal at 38.8°C, with skin turgor and capillary refill time of 1-2 seconds, and normal mucosal color of the eyes and mouth. Based on this examination, the cat was declared healthy and ready to undergo ovariohysterectomy. The surgery went smoothly without any complications. The study results indicated that recovery after OH surgery in domestic cats can be successful in a short period, around three days, provided that postoperative care is well and properly conducted. Optimal care for postoperative wounds is crucial to accelerate the healing process, prevent complications such as infections, and enhance the animal's comfort. Therefore, good postoperative care management is essential to ensure the success of the OH procedure and the overall welfare of domestic cats.
