Subsektor tanaman pangan sebagai pilar ekonomi yang menjadi kunci keberlanjutan pembangunan. meskipun begitu, sektor pertanian, terutama di kalangan generasi muda, menghadapi tantangan dalam hal minat dan partisipasi. mahasiswa fakultas pertanian universitas syiah kuala (usk) memiliki peran penting dalam regenerasi petani muda, namun banyak di antara mereka kurang tertarik pada sektor tanaman pangan. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi persepsi dan minat mahasiswa fakultas pertanian terhadap karir di sektor pertanian tanaman pangan serta melihat apakah terdapat hubungan antara persepsi dengan minat mahasiswa. penelitian ini dilaksanakan di universitas syiah kuala pada bulan desember 2023 sampai februari 2024 dengan sampel penelitian terdiri dari 86 mahasiswa. jenis data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu data primer dan data sekunder. data dikumpulkan dengan metode kuesioner selanjutnya dianalisis dengan analisis deskriptif dan analisis uji korelasi rank spearman. hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dari berbagai program studi cenderung memiliki persepsi dan minat yang rendah terhadap karir atau pekerjaan di sektor pertanian tanaman pangan. berdasarkan hasil uji korelasi, menunjukkan adanya korelasi yang kuat dan memiliki arah hubungan positif.

The food crop subsector is an economic pillar which is the key to sustainable development. However, the agricultural sector, especially among the younger generation, faces challenges in terms of interest and participation. Students from the Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University (USK) have an important role in the regeneration of young farmers, but many of them are less interested in the food crop sector. This research aims to identify the perceptions and interests of agriculture faculty students towards careers in the food crop farming sector and see whether there is a relationship between perceptions and student interests. This research was conducted at Syiah Kuala University from December 2023 to February 2024 with a research sample consisting of 86 students. The types of data used in this research are primary data and secondary data. Data was collected using the questionnaire method and then analyzed using descriptive analysis and Spearman Rank Correlation Test analysis. The results of this research show that various study programs tend to have low perceptions and interest in careers or jobs in the food crop agriculture sector. Based on the results of the correlation test, it shows that there is a strong correlation and has a positive relationship direction.
