Abstract
Hand contamination is one source of Escherichia coli bacterial contamination. This study aims to test the resistance of Escherichia coli producing Extended Spectrum Beta-Lactamase to antibiotics on the hands of Broiler chicken meat traders at Al-Mahirah market, Banda Aceh city. The detection method of Escherichia coli refers to Cross Sectional Observation and testing the sensitivity of Escherichia coli bacteria to antibiotics is carried out by the disc diffusion method. This study used 47 samples of chicken meat traders' hands. Antibiotics used were ampicillin, ceftazidime, cefotaxim, kanamycin, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole and erythromycin. Data were analyzed descriptively. The results of this study indicated that out of 47 hand samples, 6 were positive for ESBL-producing Escherichia coli. Antibiotic resistant level of ampicillin 6/6 (100%), erythromycin 5/6 (83%), cefotaxim 6/6 (100%), cefazidime 6/6 (100%), kanamycin 2/6 (33%), and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole 2/6 (33%), this shows a varying level of resistance to antibiotics. From the results of the study it can be concluded that ESBL-producing Escherichia coli bacteria were found on the hands of broiler meat traders in Al-Mahirah market, Banda Aceh city and the resistance of ESBL-producing Escherichia coli to ampicillin, cefotaxim, cefazidime, kanamycin, erythromycin, and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole antibiotics.
