Pulau tuan merupakan pulau kecil yang secara garis besar terletak di ujung pancu kecamatan peukan bada, kabupaten aceh besar. yang bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis dan kelimpahan ikan karang herbivora famili scaridae, serta menganalisis kebiasaan makan dari ikan herbivora berdasarkan substrat dasar di perairan pulau tuan, dengan menggunakan metode underwater visual census (uvc) yang dilihat secara langsung, dan metode point count. hasil dari penelitian ini ditemukan ikan herbivora famili scaridae dengan nilai rata-rata 0,37 ind/m2 , dengan 2 genus dan 7 spesies pada perairan pulau tuan, kelimpahan ikan karang herbivora tertinggi berada pada stasiun 2 dengan nilai kelimpahan sebesar 0,50 ind/m2 sedangkan pada kelimpahan ikan karang herbivora terendah terdapat pada stasiun 3 yang memiliki nilai 0,28 ind/m2 . dengan komposisi jenis ikan famili scaridae yaitu scarus tricolor, scarus ghobban, scarus prasiognathos, scarus niger, scarus rubroviolaceus, scarus bicolor dan chlorurus capistratoides. cara makan ikan karang herbivora famili scaridae yang ditemukan dalam penelitian ini terdapat dalam 2 katagori yaitu pencakar (scappers) dengan genus scarus dan katagori menggali (excavators) dengan genus chlorurus. kata kunci : scaridae, scarus, chlorurus, herbivora

Tuan Island is a small island which is generally located in Ujung Pancu, Peukan Bada District, Aceh Besar Regency. The aim is to identify the type and abundance of herbivorous coral fish of the Scaridae family, as well as analyze the eating habits of herbivorous fish based on the bottom substrate in the waters of Tuan Island, using the Underwater Visual Census (UVC) method which is seen directly, and the Point Count method. The results of this research found herbivorous fish of the Scaridae family with an average value of 0.37 ind/m2, with 2 genera and 7 species in Tuan Island waters, the highest abundance of herbivorous coral fish was at station 2 with an abundance value of 0.50 ind/m2. m2, while the lowest abundance of herbivorous coral fish was at station 3 which had a value of 0.28 ind/m2. With the composition of the fish species in the Scaridae family, namely Scarus tricolor, Scarus ghobban, Scarus prasiognathos, Scarus niger, Scarus rubroviolaceus, Scarus bicolor and Chlorurus capistratoides. The way of eating of the herbivorous coral fish of the Scaridae family found in this research is in 2 categories, namely scrapers (Scappers) with the genus Scarus and the category of digging (excavators) with the genus Chlorurus.
