Berbicara merupakan salah satu dari empat keterampilan kompetensi dasar yang harus dikuasai. ini memiliki peran penting dalam komunikasi. siswa kelas vii-2 smp n 2 mesjid raya mengalami kesulitan dalam keterampilan berbicara terutama dalam pengucapan dan kosa kata. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan hadiah dan hukuman dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa kelas tujuh smp n 2 mesjid raya. dalam penelitian ini, peneliti fokus pada dua aspek keterampilan berbicara yaitu pengucapan dan kosa kata. penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dan menggunakan desain pra-eksperimental dengan desain one-group pre-test post-test. sampel penelitian ini adalah 30 siswa dari total populasi 150 siswa. pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui pre-test dan post-test. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berbicara siswa mengalami peningkatan yang terlihat dari skor rata-rata 28,73 menjadi 80,17. jelas ha diterima dan ho ditolak. hasilnya, hadiah dan hukuman efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa.



Abstract

Speaking is one of the four basic competence skill that should be mastered. It has an important role in communication. Students at class VII-2 of SMP N 2 Mesjid Raya had a difficulty in speaking skills especially in pronounciation and vocabulary. This study aims to determine whether the use of reward and punishment can improve students’ speaking skill of seventh grade of SMP N 2 Mesjid Raya. In this study, the researcher focused on two aspect of speaking skills which are pronounciation and vocabulary. This research used quantitative approach and used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test post-test design. The sample for this study was 30 students from a total population of 150 students. The data was gathered by pre-test and post-test. The result of this research showed that students’ speaking abilities had improved which can be seen from avarage scores 28.73 to 80.17. It is clear that Ha has been accepted and Ho has been rejected. As a result, reward and punishment are effective in improving students’ speaking skill.
