Abstrak rayap macrotermitinae tersebar luas di indonesia, terutama di pulau sumatera. eksistensi subfamili ini dikenal sebagai penyebab kerusakan karena menunjukkan perilaku merusak terhadap tanaman, yang menyebabkan kerugian. oleh karena itu, sangat penting untuk menerapkan tindakan yang praktis dan tepat sasaran agar kerugian tidak kian meningkat. adapun upaya tersebut yaitu menginvestigasi dasar taksonomi dan jangkauan geografis dari kelompok rayap ini. selain itu, lebih banyak informasi yang perlu diinformasikan sebagai pembeda antar spesies. sehingga penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikannya secara komprehensif speies-spesies macrotermitinae dari sumatera berdasarkan karakter morfologinya. spesimen yang digunakan pada penelitian ini diperoleh dari koleksi rayap syaukani yang diawetkan di laboratorium biosistematika fakultas matematika dan ilmu pengetahuan alam (universitas syiah kuala) dari bulan maret hingga desember 2023. hasil penelitian ini ditemukan 26 jenis rayap dari lima genera odontotermes (12 jenis), macrotermes (9 jenis), hypotermes (2 jenis), microtermes (2 jenis) dan ancistotermes (1 jenis) yang berhasil diidentifikasi termasuk subfamili macrotermitinae di sumatera. pada penelitian ini juga ditemukan karakter penting dalam identifikasi seperti warna, bentuk kepala, mandibula, pronotum, postmentum dan segmentasi antena. kasta prajurit odontotermes dapat dibedakan antar jenis berdasarkan keberadaan dentikel yang menonjol pada mandibulanya. subfamili macrotermitinae tersebar di sumatera terutama di provinsi aceh, sumatera utara, sumatera barat, jambi dan lampung. analisis kekerabatan menemukan 11 kelompok jenis rayap yang menunjukkan tingkat kemiripan tertinggi. kata kunci : taksonomi, macrotermitinae, sumatera, rayap

ABSTRACT Macrotermitinae termites are widely distributed in Indonesia, especially on the Sumatra Island. The presence of this subfamily has been recognized as a source of damage, as they exhibit destructive behavior towards plants, resulting in losses. Therefore, it is imperative to implement practical and focused actions to prevent any escalation in losses. The objective is to investigate this particular group of termites' taxonomic foundation and geographical Jangkauan. Furthermore, more information needs to be shared between different species. This research is intended to comprehensively describe the species of the Macrotermitinae from Sumatra based on morphological characters. The specimens used for this study were obtained from the termite collections of Syaukani that are preserved in the Biosystematics Laboratory, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (Syiah Kuala University), from March to December 2023. The number of 26 termite species was found from five genera namely Odontotermes (12 species), Macrotermes (9 species), Hypotermes (2 species), Microtermes (2 species), and Ancistotermes (1 species). This research also found some important characteristics such as color, head shape, mandibula, pronotum, postmentum, and antenal segmentation. The soldier caste of Odontotermes can be distinguished between species based on the notable presence of denticles on their mandibula. The Macrotermitinae is mainly distributed in the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Jambi, and Lampung in Sumatra. The relationship analysis found 11 groups of termite species showing the highest level of similarity. Keyword : Taxonomy, Macrotemitinae, Sumatra, Termite
