Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan strategi prediksi untuk meningkatkan kinerja membaca siswa di sman 8 banda aceh. penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif. penelitian ini menggunakan desain pra-eksperimental dengan one group pretest and posttest. berdasarkan penjelasan di atas, strategi memprediksi berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kemampuan pemahaman membaca siswa. hal ini terlihat dari nilai rata-rata post-test (61,84) yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan nilai pre-test (38,84). analisis uji-t menunjukkan bahwa nilai t-hitung (6,246) lebih tinggi dibandingkan nilai t-tabel (2,060). hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa hipotesis diterima. berdasarkan hasil tersebut, siswa juga memberikan tanggapan positif terhadap penggunaan strategi memprediksi untuk pemahaman membaca. hal ini menunjukkan bahwa, strategi memprediksi sangat membantu dan dapat meningkatkan keterampilan membaca siswa selama proses belajar mengajar baik guru maupun siswa mendapatkan hasil yang memuaskan. kata kunci: strategi memprediksi, pengajaran membaca, keterampilan membaca

Abstract
This study aims to find out the effect of using Predicting Strategy to improve students‟ reading performance at SMAN 8 Banda Aceh. This is a quantitative research. This research used pre-experimental design with one group pretest and posttest. Based on the explanation above, Predicting Strategy significantly affected students‟ reading comprehension ability. It can be seen from the mean score of the post-test (61.84) that was higher than the pre-test score (38.84). The t-test analysis show that the t-score (6.246) that was a higher gained score than the t-table (2.060). The result showed that the hypothesis was accepted. Based on the results, the students also gave positive responses toward the use of Predicting Strategy for reading comprehension. It shows that, the Predicting Strategy was very helpful and can improve students in reading skills during teaching and learning process both teachers and students get satisfactory results.
