Methyl orange merupakan salah satu pewarna yang digunakan dalam industri tekstil. methyl orange berbahaya untuk kesehatan karena bersifat toksik dan mutagenik. salah satu upaya untuk menurunkan kadar zat warna methyl orange melalui proses adsorpsi. adsorben ct/fe3o4/ah memiliki kemampuan adsorpsi zat warna dikarenakan memiliki gugus hidroksil dan gugus karboksil. adsorben ct/fe3o4/ah terbuat dari hasil sintesis material mikro-nano magnetik cangkang tiram, fe3o4 dan asam humat. karakteristik adsorben ct/fe3o4/ah menggunakan sem, xrd dan ftir. hasil uji sem menunjukkan banyak pori-pori yang terbentuk dengan luas permukaan terbesar 5,412 μm. hasil uji xrd menunjukkan adsorben ct/fe3o4/ah hanya menunjukkan 3 puncak. selanjutnya uji ftir menunjukkan adanya gugus-gugus fungsi yang terdapat dalam adsorben ct/fe3o4/ah yang berperan aktif dalam proses penyerapan zat warna methyl orange seperti gugus karboksil (-cooh) dan gugus hidroksil (-oh). adsorben ct/fe3o4/ah yang dihasilkan mampu menyerap methyl orange dalam larutan berair dengan kapasitas penyerapan 5,26 mg/g pada kondisi optimum yang terjadi di ph 8, waktu kontak 45 menit, massa adsorben 0,5 g, dan konsentrasi 8 ppm. pengujian isoterm adsorpsi dilakukan menggunakan isoterm langmuir dan isoterm freundlich, dan diperoleh hasil bahwa jenis isoterm yang sesuai dengan proses adsorpsi methyl orange menggunakan adsorben ct/fe3o4/ah adalah isoterm langmuir dengan nilai r2 yaitu 0,9862. kata kunci: abu cangkang tiram, sem, xrd, ftir, fe3o4, asam humat, adsorpsi, methyl orange



Abstract

Methyl Orange is one of the dyes used in the textile industry. Methyl Orange is harmful to health because it is toxic and mutagenic. One of the efforts to reduce methyl orange dye levels is through the adsorption process. CT/Fe3O4/AH adsorbent has the ability to adsorb dyes because it has hydroxyl groups and carboxyl groups. The CT/Fe3O4/AH adsorbent is made from synthesized oyster shell micro-nano magnetic material, Fe3O4 and humic acid. The CT/Fe3O4/AH adsorbent was characterized using SEM, XRD and FTIR. SEM test results showed many pores formed with the largest surface area of 5.412 μm. XRD test results showed that CT/Fe3O4/AH adsorbent only showed 3 peaks. Furthermore, the FTIR test shows the presence of functional groups contained in the CT/Fe3O4/AH adsorbent that play an active role in the methyl orange dye absorption process such as carboxyl groups (-COOH) and hydroxyl groups (-OH). The resulting CT/Fe3O4/AH adsorbent was able to absorb methyl orange in aqueous solution with an absorption capacity of 5.26 mg/g at optimum conditions that occurred at pH 8, contact time of 45 minutes, adsorbent mass of 0.5 g, and concentration of 8 ppm. Adsorption isotherm testing was carried out using Langmuir isotherm and Freundlich isotherm, and the results showed that the type of isotherm that is in accordance with the methyl orange adsorption process using CT/Fe3O4/AH adsorbent is Langmuir isotherm with R2 value of 0,9862.
