ZUHRAH PUTRI KARNAIN, APLIKASI NANOKOMPOSIT BIOKARBON TERAKTIVASI MAGNETIK DARI GANGGANG MERAH LAUT SABANG SEBAGAI ADSORBEN ZAT WARNA. Banda Aceh Fakultas MIPA Kimia,2023

Abstract

Synthesis of red algae from the Sabang Sea has been carried out as a magnetically activated red algae biocarbon nanocomposite for the adsorption of methylene blue (MB) and remazol brilliant yellow FG (RBY) dyes. Red algae were taken from the sea in Sabang, Aceh, and aid was carried out. Sample characterization was carried out using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), scanning electron microscopes (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and particle size analyzers (PSA). The results showed that the red algae from the sea in Sabang is a species of Halymenia durvillei. The results showed that the magnetically activated red algae biocarbon nanocomposite could be prepared at a red algae:KOH composition ratio of 1:0.5 (GM(Ni)0.5). The adsorption results showed that the optimum adsorption conditions for MB dyes occurred at pH 10, with an adsorption time of 80 minutes, an adsorbent mass of 0.1 g and an adsorbate concentration of 35 mg/L with absorption efficiency of 95.99% and an adsorption capacity of 16,799 mg/l, while for the adsorption of RBY dye, the optimum adsorption conditions occurred at pH 4, with an adsorption time of 60 minutes, adsorbent mass of 0.2 g and an adsorbate concentration of 35 mg/L with %E of 89.94% and an adsorption capacity of 7,869 mg/L. The adsorption isotherm model suitable for the adsorption of MB dyes is the Freundlich isotherm with R2 = 0.9914, and for the adsorption of RBY dyes, it is the Langmuir isotherm with R2 = 0.995. GM(Ni)0.5 biocarbon nanocomposite is more efficient in adsorbing cationic dyes (MB) than anionic dyes (RBY) after 15 repetitions. In accordance with the results of regeneration, at the 15th iteration, %E MB was higher than %E RBY, namely 83.02% and 67.08%, respectively. GM (Ni)0.5 biocarbon nanocomposite has been shown to increase the active site of the adsorbent for the adsorption of MB and RBY dyes.
