Putri Nabilah, ANALISIS LAJU PELEPASAN KURKUMIN DARI KAPSUL DENGAN PENYANGGA RENGGINANG MENGGUNAKAN METODE SPEKTROFOTOMETRI UV-VIS. Banda Aceh Fakultas KIP Pendidikan Kimia,2023

Abstract

Curcumin is a polyphenol compound belonging to the flavonoid group, in the form of an orange powder that is insoluble in water. Curcumin has antibacterial, anti-proliferative, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-carcinogenic, and anti-amyloidogenic properties, which makes it widely used as a medicine among the public. However, curcumin used as a medicine can have negative health impacts due to its poor solubility in water. Research on the analysis of the release rate of curcumin from capsules with sticky rice crackers has been conducted. The purpose of this study is to analyze the release rate of curcumin from capsules with a sticky rice crackers and to identify its kinetic model. Furthermore, curcumin is expected to be available in the body for a longer time and not be immediately digested, so there needs to be an effort to slow down the release rate to ensure that the body always has a reserve of curcumin. The UV-Vis spectrophotometer method was used to monitor the release rate of curcumin from capsules with a sticky rice crackers over a period of 200 minutes. The results shows that the rate of curcumin immobilized in the sticky rice crackers capsule was 13,81%/minute and much slower than the rate of curcumin without sticky rice crackers in the capsule. Therefore, the addition of sticky rice crackers can prolong the release time of curcumin from capsules.
