Abstract
The success of mastering speaking skills students is still tricky. This study aimed to prove whether applying YouTube videos with a scientific approach can improve students' speaking skills. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 12 Banda Aceh using experimental research. The population of this study was students of class XI SMA Negeri 12 Banda Aceh, and the sample of this study was selected by purposive sampling. The data collection instrument was a test distributed to students in the form of pre-test and post-test. The researcher used statistical analysis to analyze which data in this study measured the differences in student achievement in the pre-test and post-test after being given treatment. The hypothesis using the t-test shows that the t-score obtained is higher than the t-table (7.30>2.052). The researcher suggested that teachers can try using YouTube videos with a scientific approach to teaching speaking. In this study, applying YouTube videos with a scientific approach effectively improved students' speaking skills test results. Based on the study results, there was a significant increase before and after using YouTube videos with a scientific approach. Thus, it can be concluded that Ha is accepted because after being given treatment using video with a scientific approach, students have better achievements in speaking skills.
