Sodium silikat merupakan senyawa kimia berupa padatan (cullet) transparan atau bubuk putih yang larut dalam air. dalam bentuk cair disebut juga sebagai waterglass atau liquid glass. sodium silikat memiliki berbagai macam penggunaan diantaranya sebagai bahan aditif dalam pembuatan semen, pembuatan kaca dan keramik, pemrosesan tekstil, sebagai bahan perekat dan dalam produksi silica gel. proses pembuatan sodium silikat terbagi menjadi dua proses utama yaitu menggunakan proses direct fusion dan proses wet production. prarancangan pabrik sodium silikat ini menggunakan bahan baku utama yaitu pasir silika dan sodium karbonat yang direaksikan pada temperatur 1200°c. proses produksi sodium silikat dengan proses direct fusion ini di kelompokan menjadi 3 area pabrik yaitu; unit perlakuan awal, unit proses dan unit pemurnian. kapasitas produksi pabrik ini adalah 55.000 ton/tahun dengan hari kerja 330 hari/tahun. bentuk perusahaan yang direncanakan adalah perseroan terbatas (pt) dengan menggunakan metode struktur garis dan staf. kebutuhan tenaga kerja untuk menjalankan perusahaan ini berjumlah 125 orang. lokasi pabrik direncanakan didirikan di desa tanjung widoro, kecamatan bungah, gersik, provinsi jawa timur dengan luas tanah 18.185 mm2. sumber air pabrik ini berasal dari anak sungai bengawan solo, gersik, jawa timur dengan total kebutuhan air sebesar 87.464,93947 kg/jam, serta umtuk memenuhi kebutuhan listrik sebesar 6,6 mw diperoleh dari penggunaan generator diesel dan pltgu pt pnp up gersik jawa timur. hasil analisa ekonomi yang diperoleh adalah sebagai berikut : 1. fixed capital investment = rp 274.829.196.612,- 2. working capital investment = rp 137.414.598.306,- 3. total capital investment = rp.343.536.495.765 ,- 4. total production cost = rp 1.103.074.993.762,- 5. sales cost = rp.1.274.905.366.080,- 6. net profit = rp. 128.872.779.239,- 7. pay out time = 2,6763 tahun 8. break event point = 43,4% 9. internal rate of return = 27,64%

Sodium Silicate is a chemical compound in the form of a transparent solid (cullet) or white powder that is soluble in water. In liquid form, it is also known as waterglass or liquid glass. Sodium silicate has various uses including as an additive in cement manufacturing, glass and ceramic production, textile processing, as an adhesive and in the production of silica gel. The process of making Sodium Silicate is divided into two main processes, using the Direct Fusion process and the Wet Production process. This Sodium Silicate Plant Design uses the main raw materials: Silica Sand and Sodium Carbonate which is reacted at a temperature of 1200°C. The Sodium Silicate production process using the Direct Fusion process is grouped into 3 factory areas, namely; Pre- treatment unit, process unit and purification unit. The production capacity of this factory is 55,000 tons / year with 330 working days / year. The planned company form is a Limited Liability Company (PT) using the line and staff structure method. The employee required to run this company is 125 people. The factory site was established in Tanjung Widoro, Bungah, Gersik, East Java with a land area of 18,185 mm2. The water source for this factory comes from The Bengawan Solo river near Gersik with a total water demand of 87.464,93947 kg/hour, and the electricity demand of 6.6 MW, it is obtained from the use of a diesel generator and PLTGU PT. PNP UP Gersik. The results of the economic analysis obtained are as follows: 1. Fixed Capital Investment = Rp 274.829.196.612,- 2. Working Capital Investment = Rp 137.414.598.306,- 3.
