Abstrak fakultas kedokteran hewan (fkh) di universitas syiah kuala (usk) merupakan satu-satunya fakultas dengan jurusan kedokteran hewan di pulau sumatera, sehingga mahasiswanya berasal dari berbagai daerah di sumatera. mahasiswa fkh usk dituntut untuk melakukan komunikasi selama berkuliah dan berinteraksi dengan teman-temannya, namun realitanya dalam kehidupan sosial mahasiswa fkh usk kerap kali ditemukan circle pertemanan berdasarkan kebudayaan tertentu. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh komunikasi antarbudaya terhadap sikap etnosentris mahasiswa fkh usk. landasan teorinya adalah teori keseimbangan (teori interaksi), dengan pendekatan kuantitatif, metode survey. hasil analisis menggunakan ibm spss 26 terhadap 70 sampel melalui uji f menunjukkan p-value pengaruh komunikasi antarbudaya (x) adalah 0,002 dan ,0,05 sehingga dinyatakan berpengaruh terhadap sikap etnosentris (y). hasil uji r square menunjukkan nilai 0,138 yang artinya x secara simultan berkontribusi 13,8% pada variabel y. pada skor data responden tingkat pengaruh komunikasi antarbudaya terhadap sikap ertnosentris berada pada tingkat sedang, dapat dikatakan bahwa benar komunikasi antarbudaya mempengaruhi sikpa etnosentris mahasiswa fkh usk, namun terdapat faktor lain yang mempengaruhi sikap etnosentris, seperti kondisi lingkungan, kondisi fisik komunikan dan komunikator, dan lain-lainnya. berdasarkan skor responden tersebut menunjukkan rata-rata responden memiliki sikap etnosentris yang berada di tingkat sedang, dimana hal ini bisa berdampak positif, namun untuk sebagian yang memiliki tingkat lebih tinggi akan menimbulkan dampak negatif terhadap lingkungan sekitarnya. semakin berbeda latar belakang budaya seseorang maka dalam berkomunikasi antarbudaya akan menimbulkan sikap etnosentris semakin tinggi. peneliti menyarankan agar mahasiswa fkh usk haruslah bisa lebih berfikiran terbuka dengan orang-orang yang memiliki kebudayaan berbeda dan harus lebih hati-hati dalam memilih pertemanan. kata kunci: komunikasi antarbudaya, etnosentris, circle pertemanan.

ABSTRACT The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) at Syiah Kuala University (USK) is the only faculty with a major in veterinary medicine on the island of Sumatra, so its students come from various regions in Sumatra. USK FKH students are required to communicate while in college and interact with their friends, but the reality is that in the social life of USK FKH students it is common to find friendship circles based on certain cultures. This study aims to determine the effect of intercultural communication on the ethnocentric attitudes of USK FKH students. The theoretical basis is the theory of balance (interaction theory), with a quantitative approach, survey method. The results of the analysis using IBM SPSS 26 on 70 samples through the F test showed that the p-value of the effect of intercultural communication (X) was 0.002 and .0.05 so that it was stated that it had an effect on ethnocentric attitudes (Y). The results of the R Square test show a value of 0.138, which means that X simultaneously contributes 13.8% to the variable Y. In the respondent's data score, the level of influence of intercultural communication on ethnocentric attitudes is at a moderate level. It can be said that intercultural communication influences the ethnocentric attitudes of USK FKH students. but there are other factors that influence ethnocentric attitudes, such as environmental conditions, physical conditions of communicators and communicators, and others. Based on the respondent's score, it shows that the average respondent has an ethnocentric attitude that is at a moderate level, where this can have a positive impact, but for some who have a higher level it will have a negative impact on the surrounding environment. The more different a person's cultural background, the higher the ethnocentric attitude in communicating between cultures. Researchers suggest that USK FKH students should be able to be more open-minded with people who have different cultures and should be more careful in choosing friends.
