Keywords: reading comprehension, sq3r. the objective of this research is to find whether sq3r technique improves students’ reading comprehension. this research used experimental research design. this research took place in madrasah tsanawiyah negeri tungkob, aceh besar. a class was chosen as the research sample, which consisted of 37 students. the research instrument used to gather the data was a set of multiple-choice tests, which are divided to pretest and posttest. the result of the research was analyzed by using paired t-test formula. the calculation result showed that observed t value is less than t lower critical value in the t distribution table (?4.401 < ?2.028) at the 0.05 level of significance with 36 degrees of freedom. it means that null hypothesis (h0) is rejected, which proves that sq3r technique improves the students’ reading comprehension.
