Indriazel Syaputri Hutasuhut, HUBUNGAN KADAR D-DIMER DENGAN FUNGSI KOGNITIF PASIEN POST COVID-19 DI RSUDZA. Banda Aceh Fakultas Kedokteran,2022

Abstract

Background: Cognitive impairment is one of the long-term symptoms that persist in COVID-19 patients after passing through the acute phase which can have a negatively affect functional outcomes. Cognitive impairment in post-COVID-19 is widely associated with the severity of the patient in the acute phase. D-dimer levels are often used as a biomarker of the severity of COVID-19 in the acute phase. Objective: To determine the relationship between D-Dimer levels and cognitive function in post-COVID-19 patients. Methods: An observational analytic study using a cross sectional design at Dr. Zainoel Abidin General Hospital, by collecting D-Dimer data on hospitalized COVID-19 patients in August-October 2021, then carried out a cognitive function examination by Moca-Ina questionnaire after > 6 months through the acute phase. Results: Respondents in this study were predominantly female and the age group was 36-45 years old. Our study were found that more respondents with increased levels of D-Dimer in the acute phase (74,1%), and found that impaired cognitive function is more dominant (72,9%), there is also a strong relationship between D-dimer levels and cognitive function in post- COVID-19 patients (r = 0,849). Conclusion: There is a significant and strongly correlated relationship between D-Dimer levels in the acute phase of COVID-19 with impaired cognitive function in post-COVID-19 patients.
