Salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi kurangnya kompetensi pedagogik guru yaitu kurangnya peran kepala sekolah sebagai pemimpin dalam memberikan petunjuk dan pengawasan, tidak membuka komunikasi dua arah, jarang melakukan pembinaan dan pengarahan kepada guru. tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui peran kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan kompetensi pedagogik guru. rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana peran kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan kompetensi pedagogik guru di sd negeri 1 jeumpet kabupaten aceh besar. penelitian ini memakai pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis pendekatan deskriptif. subjek penelitian ini ialah kepala sekolah dan 3 guru kelas. teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi dan wawancara dengan tahap analisis data yaitu, reduksi data, display data, dan verifikasi data. berdasarkan hasil penelitian terlihat bahwa kepala sekolah telah menjalankan peran sebagai educator, administrator, manager, supervisor, leader, inovator dan motivator. kepala sekolah juga melibatkan guru-guru dalam rapat, kkg, workshop dan seminar serta pelatihan-pelatihan guna menambah ilmu pengetahuan dan pengalaman dalam proses belajar dikelas. kepala sekolah melakukan kunjungan kelas, observasi kelas, dan mengadakan atau melengkapi peralatan yang memadai untuk pendidik dan peserta didik agar proses pembelajaran mencapai tujuan serta mutu sekolah meningkat yang nantinya akan meningkatkan kompetensi pedagogik guru.
