Abstract name : farna putri purwasih student no : 0906102050090 study program : english education title : implementing mediated instruction of text strategy (an experimental research at second grade of smpn 8 banda aceh) keywords: reading comprehension, narrative text, mit strategy this study is focused on improving students’ reading comprehension by using mediated instruction of text (mit) strategy for the second grade of smpn 8 banda aceh. quantitative approach with experimental study of one group pretest-postest design was undertaken to overcome the problems faced by students in understanding narrative text. the research instrument of this study is test and the data collected through pre-test, treatments, and post-test. in addition, some statisctical formula were also used to analyze the data. from the results of the study revealed there is a significant improvement on students’ reading comprehension after mit strategy implemented. thus, mit strategy can be one of alternative strategies used by the teacher in teaching english particularly teaching reading in efl class.
