Abstract name : cut amelia indra student no : 0906102050044 study program : english education title : the application of contextual teaching and learning method in teaching speaking skill keywords: ctl, speaking this study aims investigating how ctl method implemented by the english teacher in teaching speaking skill. to find out the research question in this study, a descriptive qualitative study conducted to get the data related to the application of ctl method by the teacher of english at mtsn tungkob, aceh besar regency. to collect the data in this study, the reseacher did a classroom observation and the field note as additional instrument. from the result of study shows that, the teacher of english had tried to apply the ctl method; however, she had not successfully implemented this method well because of two out of seven components of ctl were not applied by the teacher during her teaching. actually, as teachers of english we need to fully understand how to apply ctl method in our class before we implement it so that it can bring a positif impact on students’ learning achievent.
