Perairan utara aceh adalah perairan yang terletak di bagian utara pulau aceh dan berdekatan dengan selat malaka. iklim pada perairan utara aceh di pengaruhi oleh angin munson yaitu angin munson barat daya dan angin munson timur laut. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memetakan arus eddy di perairan utara aceh berdasarkan estimasi data hycom (hybrid coordinate ocean model) pada bulan agustus, september dan oktober tahun 2016. serta melihat keterkaitannya dengan angin dan ssh (sea surface height) di perairan utara aceh. hasil dari penelitian ini adalah di temukannya eddy pada perairan utara aceh. pada bulan agustus dan september eddy yang dihasilkan memiliki nilai curl negatif yaitu -0.5 sampai 0 dan pada bulan oktober memiliki nilai curl negatif -1.5 sampai 0. arah pergerakan eddy pada bulan agustus sampai oktober searah dengan jarum jam disebut dengan eddy antisiklon sehingga terjadi peristiwa downwelling. pada arus permukaan angin hanya mempengaruhi arus sebesar 2% dari kecepatan angin itu sendiri. angin pada bulan agustus, september dan oktober dominan bergerak dari arah barat daya menuju ke arah timur laut pengaruh dari angin munson.

North Aceh waters are waters located in the northern part of the island of Aceh and adjacent to the Malacca strait. The climate in the northern waters of Aceh is influenced by the monsoon winds, namely the southwest monsoon and the northeast monsoon. This study aims to map the eddy currents in the northern waters of Aceh based on the estimated data of Hycom (Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model) in August, September and October 2016. As well as see its relationship with wind and SSH (Sea Surface Height) in the northern waters of Aceh. The result of this research is the discovery of eddy in the waters of North Aceh. In August and September the eddy produced has a negative curl value of -0.5 to 0 and in October has a negative curl value of -1.5 to 0. The direction of the eddy movement from August to October is clockwise, called the anticyclone eddy, resulting in a downwelling event. . At surface currents the wind only affects the current by 2% of the wind speed itself. The winds in August, September and October are dominantly moving from the southwest to the northeast due to the influence of the monsoon winds.
