(2) muhammad idham, s.pd., m.ed. kata kunci : kemampuan, teks deskripsi, bahasa indonesia. abstrak penelitian ini berjudul kemampuan siswa kelas viii smp negeri 18 banda aceh menulis teks deskripsi. rumusan masalah penelitian ini adalah bagaimana kemampuan siswa kelas viii smp negeri 18 banda aceh menulis teks deskripsi. tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks deskripsi. metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif, teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini melalui teknik tes. populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas viii smp negeri 18 banda aceh tahun ajaran 2021/2022, dan sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas viii-1 smp negeri 18 banda aceh yang berjumlah 30 siswa. berdasarkan analisis data yang diperoleh bahwa kemampuan siswa menulis teks deskripsi kategori cukup mampu. hal ini dapat dilihat pada nilai persentase yang diperoleh siswa kelas viii smp negeri 18 banda aceh sebesar 53,6%. penilaian tersebut diperoleh dari 30 sampel yang aspek penilaiannya terdiri dari ciri teks deskripsi, tujuan teks deskripsi dan struktur teks deskripsi.

Keywords: Ability, Description Text, Indonesian. ABSTRACT The title of this research is the ability of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 18 Banda Aceh to write a descriptive text. The problem formulation of this research is how the ability of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 18 Banda Aceh to write descriptive text. The purpose of this study was to describe the students' ability in writing descriptive text. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative. The data collection technique in this study is through a test technique. The population in this study were class VIII students of SMP Negeri 18 Banda Aceh in the academic year 2021/2022, and the sample in this study was class VIII-1 students of SMP Negeri 18 Banda Aceh, totaling 30 students. Based on the analysis of the data obtained that the ability of students to write descriptive text categories is quite capable. This can be seen in the percentage value obtained by class VIII students of SMP Negeri 18 Banda Aceh of 53.6%. The assessment was obtained from 30 samples whose assessment aspects consisted of the characteristics of the description text, the purpose of the descriptive text and the structure of the descriptive text.
