Penggunaan kompresor sebagai alat bantu penangkapan sangat populer digunakan oleh para nelayan di seluruh indonesia karena kompresor sebagai indikator penggunaan alat tangkap yang merusak lingkungan dengan hasil tangkapan yang melimpah. keterkaitan keberlangsungan hidup masyarakat yang menggantungkan hidup dari menangkap ikan dilaut rupanya menjadikan para nelayan nekat untuk menggunakan kompresor demi mendapatkan hasil tangkapan yang banyak tanpa memperdulikan keselamatan diri dan lingkungan alam disekitarnya. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor – faktor yang mempengaruhi tingkat kesadaran hukum nelayan serta untuk mengetahui strategi peningkatan kesadaran hukum nelayan terhadap penggunaan kompresor. metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode analisis strength, weaknes, opportunity, threats (swot). berdasarkan analisis diketahui faktor faktor yang mempengarahui kesadaran hukum nelayan meliputi : tingkat pendidikan nelayan, lama menjadi nelayan, tingkat pemahaman nelayan terhadap aturan penggunaan kompresor, tingkat pemahaman nelayan terhadap efek penggunaan kompresor. strategi peningkattan kesadaran hukum nelayan kompresor adalah dengan menggunakan strategi w-o (weakness – opportunity) yaitu dengan memberikan bantuan alat tangkap pengganti sesuai kebutuhan nelayan, memberikan pelatihan terhadap penggunaan alat tangkap yang baru, sosialisasi kepada nelayan efek penggunaan kompresor. kata kunci : kompresor, swot, nelayan

The use of compressors as fishing aids is very popularly used by fishermen throughout Indonesia because the compressor is an indicator of the use of fishing gear that damages the environment with abundant catches. The relationship between the survival of the people who depend on fishing in the sea seems to make fishermen desperate to use compressors to get a lot of catches without regard for their safety and the surrounding natural environment. This study aims to determine the factors that influence the level of legal awareness of fishermen and to determine strategies to increase fishermen's legal awareness of the use of compressors. The method used in this study is the method of analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats (SWOT). Based on the analysis, it is known that the factors that influence the legal awareness of fishermen include: fishermen's education level, years of being a fisherman, fishermen's level of understanding of the rules for using compressors, fishermen's level of understanding of the effects of using compressors. The strategy to increase legal awareness of compressor fishermen is to use the W-O (Weakness – Opportunity) strategy, namely by providing replacement fishing gear according to the needs of fishermen, providing training on the use of new fishing gear, socializing to fishermen the effects of using compressors.
