Siput faunus ater atau biasa dikenal sebagai “cue” adalah salah satu sumber daya perairan yang belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal, siput jenis ini memproduksi lendir yang memiliki potensi untuk dikembangkan dalam bidang pharmaceutical. tujuan penelitian ini untuk melihat daya hambat lendir siput faunus ater pada aktivitas bakteri staphylococcus aureus. analisis kandungan senyawa yang berpotensi sebagai antibakteri dilakukan melalui uji fitokimia dan pengujian daya hambat dikerjakan melalui metode difusi cakram (kirby-bauer) dengan mengukur diameter zona hambat disekitar cakram. jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimental laboratorium dengan variasi perlakuan 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% lendir siput faunus ater, disk antibotik vancomycin (k+) dan aqaudes (k-) terhadap bakteri staphylococcus aureus atcc 25923 masing- masing dilakukan 3 ulangan. pada uji fitokimia lendir siput faunus ater positif megandung senyawa alkaloid, fenolik, saponin serta tanin. pengujian daya hambat menunjukkan lendir siput faunus ater tidak dapat menghambat aktivitas bakteri staphylococcus aureus (zona bening = 0 mm). disk vancomycin (k+) memiliki rerata zona hambat 14,35 mm dan aquades (k-) tidak memiliki zona hambat. dapat disimpulkan bahwa lendir siput faunus ater dengan berbagai konsentrasi tidak menunjukkan adanya aktivitas anti bakteri. kata kunci : antibakteri, daya hambat, lendir siput faunus ater, staphylococcus aureus



Abstract

Faunus ater snail or commonly known as “cue” is one of the aquatic resources that has not been utilized optimally, this type of snail produces mucus which have the potential to be developed in the pharmaceutical field. This study aimed to determine the inhibition of Faunus ater snail mucus against the activity of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Antimicrobial potential compounds were analyzed by qualitative phytochemical test and an inhibition test was carried out by the disc diffusion method (Kirby-Bauer) by measuring diameter of the inhibition zone around the disc. This type of research is a laboratory experiment with various treatment of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% of Faunus ater snail mucus, disk vancomycin (k+), and aquadest (k-) against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 with 3 replicates. The result of phytochemical test of Faunus ater snail mucus positive contained of alkaloid, phenolic, saponin, and tannin. The inhibition test showed that Faunus ater snail mucus could not inhibit the activity of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria (clear zone = 0 mm). Disk vancomycin (k+) had an inhibition zone of 14,35 mm and aquadest (k-) had no inhibition zone. It is concluded that Faunus ater snail mucus with various concentrations did not show any antibacterial activity.
