Abstrak salmonella sp. merupakan salah satu bakteri patogen bagi manusia dan hewan seperti kuda. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengisolasi dan mengidentifikasi salmonella sp. pada feses kuda delman dengan atau tanpa gejala diare di pasar buah berastagi berdasarkan metode carter (1987). sampel feses dari 10 ekor kuda delman yang mengalami gejala diare dan feses dari 5 ekor kuda delman yang tidak mengalami gejala diare di pasar buah berastagi diisolasi pada media scb selama 24 jam dengan temperatur 37°c. pertumbuhan bakteri pada media scb menjadi orange kemudian dilanjutkan dengan penanaman pada media ssa untuk mendapat koloni terpisah. identifikasi bakteri dilakukan dengan pewarnaan gram dan uji biokimia yang meliputi uji indol, methyl red-voges proskauer (mr-vp), simmon's citrate agar (sca), triple sugar iron agar (tsia), sulfide indole motility (sim), dan media gula-gula. hasil isolasi dan identifikasi pada 15 isolat sampel dari feses kuda delman di pasar buah berastagi ditemukan salmonella sp. dari feses kuda delman di pasar buah berastagi pada 14 sampel (93%). salmonella sp. ditemukan pada 9 sampel (60%) feses kuda delman bergejala diare, dan pada 5 sampel (33%) feses kuda delman tidak bergejala diare. beberapa spesies salmonella berhasil diisolasi dan diidentifikasi pada 9 sampel (60%) feses kuda delman bergejala diare yaitu s. typhimurium (33%), s. typhi (13%), s. enteritidis (7%), dan s. arizonae (7%), sedangkan pada 5 sampel (33%) feses kuda delman tidak bergejala diare ditemukan s. typhimurium (7%), s. enteritidis (7%), dan s. arizonae (19%). kata kunci : feses, kuda delman, pasar buah berastagi, salmonella sp., zoonosis



Abstract

Salmonella sp. is one of the pathogenic bacteria for humans and animals such as horses. This study aims to isolate and identify Salmonella sp. on the faeces of delman horses with or without symptoms of diarrhea at Berastagi Fruit Market based on the Carter method (1987). Stool samples from 10 delman horses that experienced symptoms of diarrhea and feces from 5 delman horses that did not experience symptoms of diarrhea at Berastagi Fruit Market were isolated on SCB media for 24 hours at 37°C. Bacterial growth on SCB media became orange then continued with planting on SSA media to get separate colonies. Bacterial identification was carried out by Gram staining and biochemical tests including Indole test, Methyl Red-Voges Proskauer (MR-VP), Simmon's Citrate Agar (SCA), Triple Sugar Iron Agar (TSIA), Sulfide Indole Motility (SIM), and sugar media. -sugar. The results of the isolation and identification of 15 sample isolates from the faeces of a delman horse at the Berastagi Fruit Market were found to be Salmonella sp. from the faeces of a delman horse at Berastagi Fruit Market in 14 samples (93%). Salmonella sp. It was found that in 9 samples (60%) the faeces of the delman horse had diarrhea, and in 5 samples (33%) the faeces of the delman horse had no symptoms of diarrhea. Several Salmonella species were isolated and identified in 9 samples (60%) of horse faeces with symptoms of diarrhea, namely S. typhimurium (33%), S. typhi (13%), S. enteritidis (7%), and S. arizonae (7%)., while in 5 samples (33%) of the faeces of the delman horse with no symptoms of diarrhea, S. typhimurium (7%), S. enteritidis (7%), and S. arizonae (19%).
