Perawatan ortodontik merupakan perawatan yang dilakukan untuk memperbaiki posisi gigi yang salah sehingga dapat mencapai hubungan oklusi yang baik, estetika wajah, serta stabilitas dalam perawatan. kawat stainless steel merupakan kawat ortodonti yang paling umum digunakan. kawat stainless steel mengandung 17-22% kromium,8-12% nikel, dan unsur lain seperti tembaga, besi, mangan, dan titanium. kawat ortodonti yang dipasang di dalam rongga mulut tidak terlepas dari kontak langsung dengan flora normal yang ada didalam rongga mulut, salah satunya candida albicans . penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti pengaruh ekstrak daun bidara (ziziphus mauritiana lam.) terhadap tensile strength kawat ortodonti stainless steel dan juga jumlah pertumbuhan candida albicans. sebanyak 21 spesimen kawat ortodonti stainless steel (15cm) dibagi menjadi 8 kelompok berdasarkan perlakuan perendaman dengan ekstrak daun bidara 50%,25%,12,5%,6,25%,3,123%,nistatin,akuades,serta tanpa perlakuan. spesimen dilakukan uji tensile strength dengan menggunakan universal testing machine (utm). hasilnya menunjukkan ekstrak daun bidara (ziziphus mauritiana lam.) memiliki pengaruh terhadap kekuatan tensile strength ortodonti stainless steel dan pertumbuhan candida. nilai tensile strength kawat ortodonti stainless steel pada kelompok perlakuan lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol dan pertumbuhan candida lebih rendah pada kelompok perlakuan dibandingkan kelompok kontrol. berdasarkan konsentrasi, tensile strength kawat ortodonti stainless steel dengan perendaman ekstrak konsentrasi 6,25% memiliki nilai yang tinggi. sedangkan pertumbuhan candida terendah pada konsentrasi 3,125% dengan od 0,006 (



Abstract

Orthodontic treatment is a treatment that is carried out to correct the wrong position of the teeth to achieve a good dental occlusion relationship, facial esthetics, and stability in treatment. Stainless steel wire is the most commonly used orthodontic wire. Stainless steel wire contains 17-22% chromium, 8-12% nickel, and other elements such as copper, iron, manganese, and titanium. Orthodontic wire that is installed in the oral cavity cannot be separated from direct contact with normal flora in the oral cavity, one of which is Candida albicans . This study aimed to investigate the effect of bidara leaf extract (Ziziphus mauritianaLam.) on the tensile strength of stainless steel orthodontic wires and also the growth of Candida albicans . A total of 21 specimens of stainless steel orthodontic wire (15cm) were divided into 8 groups based on the immersion treatment with bidara leaf extract 50%, 25%, 12.5%, 6.25%, 3.123%, Nystatin, Aquades, and without treatment. The specimens were tested for tensile strength with the Universal Testing Machine. The results showed that bidara leaf extract (Ziziphus mauritana Lam.) had an effect on the tensile strength of orthodontic stainless steel and Candida growth. The tensile strength value of stainless steel orthodontic wire in the treatment group was higher than in the control group and Candida growth was lower in the treatment group than in the control group. Based on the concentration, the tensile strength of stainless steel orthodontic wire with extract immersion at a concentration of 6.25% has a high value. While the lowest growth of Candida was at a concentration of 3.125% with OD 0,006 (
