Abstract

Abstract In investing, strategies to achieve desired outcomes are crucial, and an investor's personality plays a crucial role in determining a more effective investment strategy. This study aims to analyze the influence of the Big Five Personality Traits on investor investment strategies in Indonesia, with investment behavior as a mediating variable. This study employed a quantitative approach with a survey method of investors actively investing in the capital market. The personality dimensions studied included extroversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness to experience. Data analysis was performed using the Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method. The results show that investor personality variables play a significant role in determining the investment strategy chosen. Conscientiousness and openness to experience tend to encourage more rational and targeted investment planning, while neuroticism tends to cause anxiety that influences investment decisionmaking. In addition, investment behavior can provide a mediating effect on the influence of several personality traits on investment strategies, such as extroversion, conscientiousness, and openness to experience. However, investment behavior cannot provide a mediating effect on the influence of agreeableness and neuroticism on investment strategies. This research is expected to contribute to the development of behavioral financial management science and serve as a reference for investors in developing investment strategies that suit their personal character. Keywords: Big Five Personality Traits, investment strategy, investment behavior, investors, Behavior of Finance, SEM-PLS.
