Pakaian adat Aceh merupakan pakaian yang biasanya dipakai di acara pesta perkawinan, sunatan dan menyambut tamu. Pakaian adat Aceh dipercaya mengandung unsur-unsur nilai Islam. Hal ini tidak lepas dari pengaruh Islam yang sudah mengakar kuat hampir dalam seluruh aspek kehidupan masyarakat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengungkapkan representasi nilai-nilai keislaman yang terdapat dalam pakaian adat Aceh. Adapun fokus kajian penelitian, yaitu pada pakaian adat Aceh Kabupaten Aceh Besar. Untuk menganalisis makna simbolik pakaian adat ini, peneliti menggunakan teori analisis semiotika Roland Barthes dengan pendekatan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Proses menganalisis dalam semiotika Roland Barthes menggunakan konsep signifikasi dua tahap, yaitu tahapan pertama disebut makna denotasi yang merupakan makna paling nyata, tahapan kedua disebut makna konotasi yaitu makna subjektif dan tahapan ketiga konsep mitos yang muncul dari signifikasi tataran kedua makna konotasi. Hasil penelitian ini adalah pakaian adat Aceh tidak hanya sekedar untuk dipakai acara pesta perkawinan saja, namun menyimpan makna pesan hidup yang hendak disampaikan kepada masyarakat Aceh lewat simbol-simbol pada aksesoris perhiasan. Pakaian pokok adat Aceh mencerminkan nilai-nilai Islam yang ditampilkan lewat simbol-simbol tanda yang terdapat dipakaian. Nilai keislaman tersebut berupa nilai ketuhanan, nilai syariah dan nilai akhlak.

Acehnese traditional clothes are clothes that are usually worn at weddings, circumcisions and welcoming guests. Acehnese traditional clothing is believed to contain elements of Islamic values. This cannot be separated from the influence of Islam which is deeply rooted in almost all aspects of people's lives. The purpose of this study is to reveal the representation of Islamic values contained in traditional Acehnese clothing. As for the focus of the research study, namely on the traditional clothes of Aceh, Aceh Besar District. To analyze the symbolic meaning of this traditional dress, the researcher used Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis theory with a descriptive qualitative method approach. The process of analyzing in Roland Barthes' semiotics uses the concept of two stages of significance, namely the first stage is called denotative meaning which is the most real meaning, the second stage is called connotative meaning, namely subjective meaning and the third stage is the concept of myth that emerges from the second level signification of connotative meaning. The result of this research is that traditional Acehnese clothing is not only used for weddings, but also holds the meaning of the message of life to be conveyed to the people of Aceh through symbols on jewelry accessories. The basic Acehnese traditional clothes reflect Islamic values which are displayed through the symbols of the signs on the clothes.
