Pembelajaran online mulai umum dilaksanakan karena pandemi Covid-19, yakni dengan menggunakan media sosial, salah satunya WhatsApp. WhatsApp telah digunakan oleh beberapa peneliti untuk melihat keefektifannya sebagai media penyampaian materi pembelajaran, pengaruhnya terhadap minat belajar, proses belajar, keaktifan siswa dalam pembelajaran online, waktu belajar, konsentrasi belajar dan perilaku menunda pekerjaan rumah. Namun penelitian yang dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh WhatsApp terhadap hasil belajar matematika masih terbatas. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh media sosial terhadap hasil belajar matematika siswa. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan korelasi. Populasi dan sampel penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI-MIPA SMA Negeri 14 Iskandar Muda, Banda Aceh yang terdiri dari 21 orang. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian nonparametrik karena menggunakan sampel penelitian kurang dari 30, data tidak berdistribusi normal, data media sosial berskala ordinal dan data hasil belajar berskala interval yang kemudian diubah ke skala ordinal. Data penelitian ini diperoleh dengan cara dokumentasi nilai ujian matematika Semester I Tahun Ajaran 2020/2021 dan angket penggunaan media sosial sebanyak 20 pertanyaan. Pengaruh antara media sosial dan hasil belajar dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji chi kuadrat dan dilanjutkan dengan uji koefisien kontigensi untuk mengetahui tingkat korelasi. Hasil penelitian diperoleh chi kuadrat hitung = 3,73 dan chi kuadrat tabel = 9,48, sehingga chi kuadrat hitung < chi kuadrat tabel, yang berarti tidak terdapat pengaruh antara penggunaan media sosial dan hasil belajar matematika. Namun karena chi kuadrat hitung bernilai positif, maka secara matematis terdapat pengaruh antara media sosial dengan hasil belajar matematika, hanya saja pengaruh tersebut kecil atau tidak signifikan. Memperhatikan dampak dari penelitian ini sangat kecil dalam melihat pengaruh antara media sosial terhadap hasil belajar matematika, maka dimungkinkan untuk penelitian lain dengan memperbaiki teknik pengambilan sampel dan penempatan lokasi penelitian berbeda.

Online learning began to be implemented due to the Covid-19 pandemic, namely by using social media, one of which was WhatsApp. WhatsApp has been used by several researchers to see its effectiveness as a media for delivering learning materials, its effect on interest in learning, the learning process, student activity in online learning, study time, study concentration and behavior in delaying homework. However, the research conducted to determine the effect of WhatsApp on mathematics learning outcomes is still limited. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of social media on students' mathematics learning outcomes. This research is a quantitative research with a correlation approach. The population and research sample were all students of class XI-MIPA SMA Negeri 14 Iskandar Muda Banda Aceh which consisted of 21 people. This research includes nonparametric research because it uses research samples of less than 30, data is not normally distributed, ordinal social media data and interval learning outcomes data are then converted to an ordinal scale. This research data was obtained by documenting the math test scores for the First Semester of the 2020/2021 Academic Year and a questionnaire on the use of social media as many as 20 questions. The influence between social media and learning outcomes was analyzed by using the chi square test and continued with the contingency coefficient test to determine the level of correlation. The results obtained chi square qount = 3.73 and chi square table = 9.48, so chi square count < chi square table, which means that there is no effect between the use of social media and learning outcomes of mathematics. However, because chi square count is positive, mathematically there is an influence between social media and mathematics learning outcomes, it's just that the effect is small or not significant. Noting the impact of this research is very small in seeing the effect of social media on learning outcomes of mathematics, it is possible for other research to improve sampling techniques and the placement of different research locations.
