Aceh merupakan kota yang utamanya mengembangkan sektor pariwisata dengan pengembangan destinasi alam. Namun, MICE diyakini bisa memajukan pariwisata di Banda Aceh. Pemerintah Kota Banda Aceh terus menggalakkan pengembangan industri Meetings, Incentives, Convention, and Exibhition (MICE) di Kota Banda Aceh. MICE mulai tumbuh cukup signifikan di Kota Banda Aceh, meskipun skalanya belum sebesar kota-kota besar lainnya yang memiliki convention dan exhibition yang memadai. Kota Banda Aceh saat ini telah memiliki beberpa gedung pertemuan namun gedung tersebut tidak memenuhi kebutuhan untuk dilakukannya kegiatan MICE. Untuk mewujudkan Banda Aceh sebagai tujuan industri MICE maka di perlukan bangunan Convention dan Exhibition Center sebagai salah satu fasilitas pendukung dalam kegiatan MICE. Kota Banda Aceh membutuhkan tempat yang dibangun khusus untuk menyelenggarakan konvensi, pameran, serta kegiatan berskala besar yang bersifat masal dan sementara lainya, baik tertutup ataupun terbuka. Sebagai gerbang kemajuan kota Banda Aceh, maka tampilan dan bentuk bangunan Convention dan Exhibition Center di Banda Aceh menggunakan tema Arsitektur Fungsinalisme. Tema Arsitektur Fungsionalisme mencerminkan kemajuan dan mengikuti perekembangan global namun tetap memperhatikan masalah kontekstual.

Aceh is a city that primarily develops the tourism sector by developing natural destinations. However, it is believed that MICE can advance tourism in Banda Aceh. The Banda Aceh City Government continues to promote the development of the Meetings, Incentives, Convention and Exhibition (MICE) industry in the City of Banda Aceh. MICE is starting to grow quite significantly in the city of Banda Aceh, although the scale is not yet as big as other big cities which have adequate conventions and exhibitions. The city of Banda Aceh currently has several meeting buildings, but these buildings do not meet the needs for carrying out MICE activities. To make Banda Aceh a destination for the MICE industry, a Convention and Exhibition Center building is needed as one of the supporting facilities for MICE activities. The city of Banda Aceh needs a specially built place to hold conventions, exhibitions and other large-scale mass and temporary activities, whether closed or open. As a gateway to the progress of the city of Banda Aceh, the appearance and shape of the Convention and Exhibition Center building in Banda Aceh uses the theme of Functionalist Architecture. The theme of Functionalism Architecture reflects progress and follows global developments but still pays attention to contextual issues.
