Abstract Name : Muhammad Saidinas Student No. : 1906102020012 Department/Strata : English Education/S1 Title : The Implementation of Non-Visual Desktop Access Screen Reader as a Learning Medium in English Language Learning for Visually-Impaired Students at SLB Negeri Banda Aceh This study addresses the challenge of inadequate accessible resources for blind and visually impaired students, which often hampers their academic performance, particularly in English language learning. One potential solution is the utilization of screen reader technology as a learning medium by educators. However, the full potential of employing screen readers for English language acquisition remains underexplored, necessitating a systematic investigation of pedagogical methods. This research examines the implementation of the Non-Visual Desktop Access (NVDA) screen reader by teachers as a digital learning medium in English learning among visually impaired students at SLB Negeri Banda Aceh. The qualitative method was used to interview three teachers who had been chosen by using the sampling technique. The transcript of interview was analyzed using induction analysis. Findings reveal that teachers integrate NVDA into teaching practices within the core classroom activity, where the material is outputted through the screen reader with settings that adapt to students for optimal comprehension. Benefits include improved listening skills, vocabulary acquisition, and engagement with learning materials. Challenges such as technical issues and training needs underscore ongoing support requirements. Insights from this study offer guidance for educators in utilizing NVDA to enhance learning experiences and suggest potential benefits for students in achieving proficiency with screen readers, thereby enhancing opportunities for success in English language learning. Additionally, the findings provide a reference for future research on utilizing screen readers to improve various English language skills. keywords: English language learning, Learning media, NVDA (Non-Visual Desktop Access), Screen Reader technology, Visual Impairment
