Zat aditif makanan yang umum digunakan secara luas diberbagai negara adalah monosodium glutamat (MSG). Namun, banyak masyarakat yang belum menyadari bahwa MSG berdampak tidak baik salah satunya terhadap penurunan kadar hormon testosteron apabila dikonsumsi secara berlebihan dan terakumulasi dalam tubuh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak etanol black garlic terhadap peningkatan kadar hormon testosteron tikus putih yang diinduksi MSG. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) terdiri dari lima perlakuan dengan lima ulangan yaitu, P0 (kontrol normal ) = tanpa diberikan MSG, P1 (kontrol positif) = diberikan MSG 8 mg/kg BB, P2 = diberikan MSG 8 mg/kg BB + 200 mg ekstrak etanol black garlic), P3 = diberikan MSG 8 mg/kg BB + 400 mg ekstrak etanol black garlic) dan P4 = diberikan MSG 8 mg/kg BB + 600 mg ekstrak etanol black garlic). Pemberian larutan MSG dan ekstrak etanol black garlic dilakukan secara oral menggunakan sonde lambung selama 28 hari. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji ragam (One Way ANOVA) dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan. A food additive that is widely used in various countries is monosodium glutamate (MSG). However, many people are not aware that MSG has a bad impact, one of which is reducing testosterone hormone levels if consumed excessively and accumulates in the body. This study aims to determine the effect of giving ethanol extract of black garlic on increasing testosterone levels in white rats induced by MSGThis study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of five treatments with five replications, namely, P0 (normal control) = no MSG given, P1 (positive control) = given 8 mg/kg BW MSG, P2 = 8 mg/kg MSG given BB + 200 mg ethanol extract of black garlic), P3 = given MSG 8 mg/kg BW + 400 mg ethanol extract of black garlic) and P4 = given MSG 8 mg/kg BW + 600 mg ethanol extract of black garlic). MSG solution and black garlic ethanol extract were administered orally using a gastric probe for 28 days. Data were analyzed using the test of variance (One Way ANOVA) and continued with the Duncan test.. Further test results showed that testosterone levels in P2, P3 and P4 were higher than P1. It can be concluded that administration of black garlic ethanol extract was able to increase testosterone hormone levels in mice induced by MSG.
