<note>The aim of this study are to find out the difficulties of the Senior High School students in understanding passive voice. the dominant difficulties that the students faced, and find out the solution of them .. The population of this study was all students of Senior High School 12 Banda Aceh which is located at JI. T. Panglima Nyak Makam, Lampineung Banda Aceh. The sample of this study was 77 students of the
second year who came at the test. The method used in this study was descriptive quantitative research. The procedure of data collection in this study was conducted by distributing a set of test item to the second year students. The data analysis of the study showed that the students of SMA 12 Banda Aceh still have difficulties in understanding passive voice. The difficulties faced by the students are in matching the subject with the verb and the dominant difficulties are in answer the tests items for the simple present tense, the present progressive tense, the past perfect tense, and the simple future tense using will, and in determining the correct verb used in passive form. The suggestion for English teachers is that they are able to create innovative methods in teaching the passive voice to find the solution in helping the students who faced the difficulties.
