IDENTIFIKASI PARASIT PROTOZOA YANG MENGINFEKSI TIRAM (Crassostrea gigas) di LOKASI BUDIDAYA DESA ALUE NAGA, KOTA BANDA ACEH



ABSTRAK


Tiram (Crassostrea gigas) termasuk dalam kategori moluska yang banyak dibudidayakan, tetapi sering mengalami masalah kesehatan akibat serangan parasit, salah satunya adalah parasit protozoa Perkinsus sp. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui jenis parasit protozoa serta menghitung prevalensi penyebarannya pada tiram hasil budidaya di Desa Alue Naga, Kota Banda Aceh. Pengumpulan sampel dilakukan secara acak di area budidaya dengan total 50 ekor tiram yang diperiksa. Proses identifikasi parasit dilakukan secara mikroskopis dengan metode natif pada jaringan insang, mantel, dan saluran pencernaan. Setiap sampel diamati sebanyak lima kali untuk memastikan keakuratan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hanya satu jenis parasit protozoa, yaitu Perkinsus sp., yang ditemukan menginfeksi tiram. Persentase infeksi Perkinsus sp. secara keseluruhan mencapai 80%. Angka yang tinggi ini menunjukkan bahwa parasit tersebut telah menginfeksi mayoritas tiram di lokasi penelitian. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa budidaya tiram di Desa Alue Naga, Kota Banda Aceh, menunjukkan tingkat infeksi parasit Perkinsus sp. yang cukup tinggi.

IDENTIFICATION OF PROTOZOAN PARASITES INFECTING OYSTERS (Crassostrea gigas) IN THE CULTIVATION AREA OF ALUE NAGA VILLAGE, BANDA ACEH ABSTRACT Oysters (Crassostrea gigas) are a type of mollusk widely cultivated, yet they often face health issues due to parasitic infections, one of which is the protozoan parasite Perkinsus sp. The objective of this research was to determine the type of protozoan parasite and calculate the percentage of its prevalence in cultivated oysters in Alue Naga Village, Banda Aceh City. Sampling was conducted randomly in the cultivation area, with a total of 50 oysters examined. Parasite identification was performed microscopically using the native method on gill, mantle, and digestive tract tissues. Each sample was observed five times to ensure data accuracy. The study findings revealed that only one type of protozoan parasite, Perkinsus sp., was found infecting the oysters. The overall infection percentage of Perkinsus sp. reached 80%. This high percentage indicates that the parasite has infected the majority of oysters at the research site. Based on these results, it can be concluded that oyster cultivation in Alue Naga Village, Banda Aceh City, shows a high level of Perkinsus sp. parasitic infection.
