Tujuan dari penelitian ini dilaksanakan agar dapat memahami penyebab pengemis badut itu hadir, serta menganalisis panggung depan dan belakang dari kehidupan mereka dengan teori Dramaturgi. Jenis penelitian yang dipakai pada penelitian ini yaitu kualitatif menggunakan metode deskriptif dan memakai fenomenologi sebagai pendekatannya. Informan dipilih secara purposive sampling. Semua data diperoleh dengan cara obervasi, wawancara, serta dokumentasi. Adapun agar data tersebut dapat dianalisis dengan cara reduksi data, penyajian data, serta verifikasi. Hasil pada penelitian ini menjelaskan motif mengemis bukan hanya karena faktor kekurangan ekonomi, keterampilan yang rendah, dan tingkat pendidikan yang rendah, melainkan juga menganggapnya bagian dari hobi mereka. Mayoritas pengemis badut tersebut memperoleh pendapatan yang mencukupi kebutuhan mereka seperti kebutuhan primer dan sekunder. Pada front stage yang ditampilkan oleh pengemis badut, terlihat mereka melakukan berbagai gerakan menghibur seperti bernyanyi dan menari hingga membuat anak-anak tertawa serta mereka memilih lokasi yang ramai dikunjungi masyarakat.. Terlihat beberapa dari mereka sebelum memainkan perannya sebagai badut di front stage, pada back stage terlihat mereka mempersiapkan peralatan dan atribut mengemis terlebih dahulu seperti kostum badut, speker mini musik, dan celengan badut untuk mendukung penampilannya ketika di front stage, menarik perhatian, dan ingin mendapatkan reward dari masyarakat. Mereka juga mengelola impresi sebelum ditampilkan di front stage.

The purpose of this study was to understand the reasons why clown beggars appear, as well as to analyze the front and back stages of their lives using Dramaturgy theory. The type of research used in this study is qualitative using descriptive methods and uses phenomenology as its approach. Informants were selected by purposive sampling. All data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. As for the data to be analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The results of this study explain that the motive for begging is not only due to economic deficiencies, low skills, and low levels of education, but also consider it part of their hobby. The majority of clown beggars earn income that meets their needs such as primary and secondary needs. On the front stage displayed by clown beggars, they are seen performing various entertaining movements such as singing and dancing to make children laugh and they choose locations that are crowded with people. It can be seen that some of them before playing their role as clowns on the front stage, on the back stage they are seen preparing equipment and attributes for begging in advance such as clown costumes, mini music speakers, and clown piggy banks to support their appearance when on the front stage, attract attention, and want to get rewards from the community. They also manage impressions before they are presented on the front stage.
