 <note>This script   is  entitled  The  application of retelling  story ass an  authentic &#13;
assessment in understanding narrative text &quot; . The purpose of this study is to find &#13;
out  whether using retelling story as an authentic  assent gives better impact&#13;
in  improving students performance in reading. Unlike the traditional assessment,&#13;
authentic is   kind  of assessment which focuses not only  the product but also on&#13;
the Authentic assessment the wry the teacher teaches  also the way the&#13;
teacher assent the  study.  Retelling story,  in this  type of the  assessment,&#13;
students read or listen  to the text and then retell the main ideas or details of the&#13;
elected.  This type of assessment is authenthic because ti is based on or closely&#13;
resembles the actual classroom activities. This study found that the application of&#13;
retelling  story   as  an authentic  assessment in understanding  narrative text&#13;
provides some systematic steps to improve students' comprehension in  reading &#13;
Students are higly  motivated and pleased during teaching and learning process. &#13;
Based  on  the  research findings  and  experts' statements,  it  is found  that the&#13;
retelling  story as an authentic assessment is appropriate to  improve students &#13;
performance in reading.&#13;
