Struktur anatomi dan histologi organ reproduksi garangan jawa (herpestes javanicus) betina dewasa abstrak garangan jawa (herpestes javanicus) merupakan mamalia kecil dari famili herpestidae yang berperan penting dalam menjaga keseimbangan ekosistem. informasi mengenai struktur anatomi dan histologi organ reproduksi betina spesies ini masih terbatas. oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui struktur anatomi dan histologi dari ovarium, oviduk, uterus, vagina, dan vulva garangan jawa. metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu eksploratif dengan hewan coba berupa garangan jawa betina dewasa sebanyak tiga ekor. pengamatan anatomi dilakukan secara makroskopis untuk data morfologi dan morfometri, sedangkan pengamatan histologi dilakukan dengan pembuatan preparat jaringan dan pewarnaan hematoksilin-eosin. data morfometri berupa panjang, lebar dan berat organ, sedangkan data histomorfometri diperoleh dari pengukuran ketebalan lapisan penyusun organ dengan aplikasi toupview. data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif. hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa organ reproduksi betina garangan jawa terdiri atas ovarium, oviduk, uterus, vagina dan vulva. secara morfologi ovarium berbentuk oval, oviduk berbentuk saluran tipis yang menghubungkan ovarium dengan kornua uteri, uterus berbentuk huruf y dengan tipe bicornua, vagina berbentuk tabung yang elastis dan vulva berbentuk celah vertikal yang dibatasi oleh dua labia. rata-rata panjang total organ reproduksi betina garangan jawa adalah 9,28±0,24 cm dengan berat total organ 4,04±0,64 g. secara histomorfologi, ovarium tersusun atas epitel germinativum, tunika albuginea, korteks dan medula; oviduk tersusun atas lapisan mukosa, muskularis, serosa; uterus tersusun atas lapisan endometrium, miometrium dan perimetrium; dan vagina memiliki lapisan mukosa, muskularis dan adventisia, serta hasil histomorfometri ditemukan adanya variasi ketebalan pada setiap lapisan penyusun organ reproduksi. dapat disimpulkan bahwa organ reproduksi betina garangan jawa memiliki struktur anatomi dan histologi yang mirip dengan mamalia. kata kunci: makroskopis, mikroskopis, morfometri dan ketebalan lapisan jaringan

ANATOMICAL AND HISTOLOGICAL STRUCTURE OF THE REPRODUCTIVE ORGANS IN THE ADULT FEMALE JAVAN MONGOOSE (Herpestes javanicus) ABSTRACT The javan mongoose (Herpestes javanicus) is a small mammal belonging to the family Herpestidae that plays an important role in maintaining ecosystem balance. Information regarding the anatomical dan histological structures of the female reproductive organs of this species is still limited. Therefore, this study was aimed to determine the anatomical and histological structures of the ovaries, oviducts, uterus, vagina and vulva of the javan mongoose. An exploratory method was applied in this study using three adult female javan mongooses as experimental animals. Anatomical observations were conducted out macroscopically to obtain morphological and morphometric data, while histological observations were performed through tissue preparation and Hematoxylin-Eosin staining. Morphometric data include the length, width, and wight of the organs, whereas histomorphometric data were obtained from measuring the thickness of the tissue layers using the ToupView application. The obtained data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the female reproductive organs of the javan mongoose consist of the ovaries, oviducts, uterus, vagina and vulva. Morphologically, the ovaries were oval in shape, the oviduct appeard as thin ducts connecting the ovaries to the uterine horns, the uterus was Y-shaped with a bicornuate type, the vagina formed an elastic tubular structure, and the vulva appeared as a vertical slit bordered by two labia. The average total length of the female reproductive organs of the javan mongoose was 9,28±0,24 cm with a total organs weight of 4,04±0,64 g. Histomorphologically, the ovaries were composed of the germinative epithelium, tunica albuginea, cortex, and medulla; the oviduct consisted of mucosal, muscular and serosal layers; the uterus consisted of the endometrium, miometrium and perimetrium layers; and the vagina was composed of mucosal, mucular and adventitial layers. Histomorphometric analysis revealed variations in the thickness of each tissue layer composing the reproductive organs. It can be concluded that the female reproductive organs of javan mongoose have anatomical and histological structures similar to those of mammals.
