Abstrak kunyit (curcuma longa linn) merupakan bahan herbal mengandung senyawa aktif curcuminoid yang terdiri atas curcumin, bisdementhoxycurcumin dan dementhoxycurcumin yang mempunyai sifat anti jamur. tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui daya hambat ekstrak kunyit (curcuma longa linn) terhadap pertumbuhan candida albicans. uji daya hambat pada penelitian ini menggunakan metode difusi agar (kirby-bauer) dengan nistatin 100µg sebagai kontrol positif dan kertas cakram kosong sebagai kontrol negatif. data dianalisis dengan menggunakan anova satu arah (one way analysis of varians) dengan taraf kepercayaan 5%, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan uji duncan. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak kunyit (curcuma longa linn) dengan pelarut etanol 96% dapat menghambat pertumbuhan c.albicans pada konsentrasi 12,5%, 25%, 50%, 75% dan 100%. diameter zona hambat terbesar terlihat pada konsentrasi 100% yaitu 10 mm. dan diameter terkecil terlihat pada konsentrasi 12,5% yaitu 7 mm. berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat diambil kesimpulan bahwa ekstrak kunyit (curcuma longa linn) terbukti dapat menghambat pertumbuhan c.albicans pada berbagai konsentrasi. kata kunci : kunyit, curcuma longa linn, candida albicans, metode difusi agar ix abstract turmeric (curcuma longa linn) is a herbal ingredient containing active compound curcuminoids that consist of curcumin, bisdementhoxycurcumin and dementhoxycurcumin which act as antifungal properties. the purpose of this study was to determine the inhibition of turmeric (curcuma longa linn) on the growth of candida albicans. inhibition tests in this study using agar diffusion method (kirby-bauer) with 100 ?g nystatin as a positive control and blank paper discs as a negative control. data were analyzed using one-way anova (one way analysis of variance) with confidence level of 5%, followed by the duncan test. the results showed that the extract of turmeric (curcuma longa linn) with 96% ethanol can inhibit the growth of c. albicans at a concentration of 12.5%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. the largest diameter zone of inhibition was record as 10 mm from concentration of 100%, while the smallest diameter zone of inhibition was at concentration of 12,5% with diameter of zone inhibition was 7 mm. based on the results of this study we concluded that the extract of turmeric (curcuma longa linn) shown to inhibit the growth of c. albicans at various concentrations. key words: turmeric, curcuma longa linn, candida albicans, agar diffusion method
