Immobilisasi fotokatalis α-fe2o3/bentonit pada plat kaca telah dilakukan dengan metode brush coating menggunakan double-sided adhesive tape (dsat) sebagai perekat. formulasi komposit α-fe2o3/bentonit dibuat dengan mencampurkan α-fe2o3 dan bentonit dengan perbandingan 3:1 (w/w). aktivitas fotokatalitik fotokatalis α-fe2o3/bentonit yang terimmobilisasi pada plat kaca dievaluasi pada penghilangan zat warna methylene blue (mb). komposit α-fe2o3/bentonit dan α-fe2o3 dikarakterisasi menggunakan x-ray difrraction (xrd) untuk mengevaluasi struktur senyawa dan kristal dari komposit α-fe2o3/bentonit dan α-fe2o3. morfologi permukaan fotokatalis α-fe2o3/bentonit dikarakterisasi menggunakan scanning electron microscope (sem). hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas fotokatalis dalam mendegradasi zat warna mb terjadi pada massa fotokatalis optimum 40 mg, ph 5 dan konsentrasi zat warna 5 mg/l dengan nilai kinetika reaksi yang diperoleh sebesar 0,0843 menit-1 dan persen kehilangan (%r) yang diperoleh sebesar 98,60% selama 60 menit penyinaran dengan lampu fluorescent. penggunaan kembali (reusabilitas) fotokatalis komposit α-fe2o3/bentonit terhadap zat warna mb dilakukan sebanyak 5 kali dengan aktivitas fotokatalitik yang menurun seiring dengan pengulangan yang dilakukan yaitu 98,60 % hingga 94%. kata kunci : immobilisasi, α-fe2o3, bentonit, fotokatalis, methylene blue



Abstract

Immobilization of α-Fe2O3/Bentonite photocatalyst on a glass plate was carried out with brush coating method using double-sided adhesive tape as a binder. Formulation of immobilization α-Fe2O3/Bentonite composite was made by mixing α-Fe2O3 and bentonite with mass ratio 3:1 (w/w). Photocatalytic activity of immobilized photocatalyst was evaluated on removal Methylene Blue (MB) dye. α-Fe2O3/Bentonite composite and α-Fe2O3/ are characterized using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) to evaluated the compounds and crystal structures. Surface morphology of α-Fe2O3/Bentonite composite on a glass plat was characterized using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The result showed that the photocatalytic activity at optimum conditions in degrading of MB dye was found at a photocatalyst mass of 40 mg, pH 5 and dye of concentration of 5 mg/L with the value of reaction kinetics obtained 0,0843 minutes-1 with percent loss of Methylene Blue dye (%R) obtained 98,60% during 60 minutes of irradiation with fluorescent lamps. Reusability of α-Fe2O3/Bentonite composite for degradation of MB dyes was carried out 5 cycles which gave decreased photocatalytic activity during repetition performed result were 98,60% for 94%.
